Welcome to Morgan County. It's county seat is Berkeley Springs. The county was formed in 1820 from parts of Hampshire and Berkeley Counties and named in honor of George Daniel Morgan, prominent soldier of the American Revolutionary War. The county and town of Bath are considered an excellent jumping off point for exploring the Potomac and Cacapon Rivers valleys just to the north and west. Along with also being a tourist destination hosting numerous local artists, mineral water spas, and a large amount of outdoor recreation that includes fishing, boating, wildlife, hunting, and mountain scenery.

George Washington and his brother visited Bath several times because of the warm mineral springs to help with his brother. Bath later became known as Berkeley Springs.

One of the small towns located in Morgan County is Great Cacapon which takes its name from the Cacapon River (from the Native American meaning "medicine water") which empties into the Potomac River to the town's east. It features many small vacation cabins and even year-round homes.  Small town living in the country for sure.

Paw Paw, WV is a small town nestled in the mountains of Morgan County in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Located just outside of Paw Paw, is the historic Pin Oak Fountain. It was built in 1932; handcrafted from stone from the hillside nearby. Be sure to look to the “ceiling” and check out the quartz lining it! Paw Paw was named after the Paw Paw Tunnel which is part of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal which was constructed thru the hillside to make way for the Canal to move up and down the Potomac River. The name Paw Paw actually comes from a fruit that is abundant in the area.

There are plenty of outdoor activities with the Great Cacapon State Park that includes cabin rentals, spa, lake, horseback riding, biking, hiking, fishing and golf to enjoy.
